An investor's approach to the space industry

or: How to hopefully not lose money while exploring the universe

Welcome to SpaceDotBiz by me, Ian Vorbach.

I believe the emerging space economy provides a rare opportunity to tap into humanity’s innate desire for exploration while also benefiting economically.

Why am I qualified to talk about this? To start (and most importantly) I care a lot about space and have for as long as I can remember. As a kid, my favorite place was New York City’s Hayden Planetarium and that early passion led me to pursue space-related academics in sciences and engineering. I have held operating roles in business development and propulsion engineering in space startups and am an angel investor both inside and outside the space industry. Furthermore, I have an MBA from the Wharton school, an MS in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Stanford, and a BS in Physics from Yale. I’ve held roles of President of Wharton’s Aerospace & Defense Club, co-founder and co-team lead of Stanford’s first student liquid rocket program, and founding team member of the Yale Undergraduate Aerospace Association.
